Short description:
The XR2Industry project aims to establish a European benchmark platform for extended reality (XR) technologies tailored to industry needs. It features three open call tracks, each designed to integrate and develop innovative XR hardware components. The first open call, focused on Hardware Enablers, invites SMEs and MidCaps to develop and integrate emerging technologies such as 5G/6G, IoT, AI, and edge computing into XR experiences. The initiative aims to fund up to 12 projects across various challenge areas, including haptic gloves, universal trackers, hard hats with HMD integration, high-accuracy GPS, motion capture systems, external HDR cameras, audio systems with hearing protection, and interaction devices for disabled people.
Eligibility Criterias:
Selected SMEs and MidCaps will receive a grant of up to €500,000, which is non-diluting, meaning it doesn't require giving up equity in the company. This funding is intended to support the development and implementation of innovative XR hardware solutions, including product development, integration of emerging technologies, and pilot testing in real-world industrial settings.
The grant also provides technical and business support through tailored workshops and mentorship, helping beneficiaries grow and scale their solutions. Regular evaluations will ensure projects meet predefined objectives and KPIs, such as technological advancement, integration success, and industrial relevance. Additionally, tailored services will support the delivery and expansion of project activities, including technical guidance and user feedback integration.
Funds are disbursed in multiple stages based on the delivery of project reports and evaluations: up to €65,000 after the completion of the Individual Mentoring Plan (IMP) in the first two months, up to €200,000 for development activities over the next six months, and up to €235,000 for integration activities in the final seven months. All activities must comply with relevant data protection and ethical guidelines.
Projects must address one of the following challenge areas: haptic gloves, universal trackers, hard hats with HMD integration, high-accuracy GPS, motion capture systems, external HDR cameras, audio systems with hearing protection, or interaction devices for disabled people. Each solution must be rigorously tested and evaluated, and include a detailed project proposal outlining how it will meet the objectives and requirements of the selected challenge area.
