The MAGICIAN Open Call aims to support European (or EU associated: UK, Israel, Ukraine, and others) start-ups and SMEs in developing smart applications in manufacturing. The initiative provides grants of up to €200k and technical support to foster innovation in AI-based tools, robotics, smart manufacturing, human-robot collaboration, leverage AI, computer vision, sensor technologies, and adaptive robotics to improve manufacturing processes.
Eligibility Criterias:
Selected startups and SMEs from EU member states or Horizon Europe-associated countries can receive up to €200,000 in non-dilutive funding, covering 70% of project costs (100% for startups).
The funding is designed to accelerate product innovation and industrial deployment, enabling beneficiaries to develop advanced automation technologies, AI-based tools, human-robot collaboration systems, and adaptive manufacturing solutions. Successful applicants will gain access to high-level technical expertise, industrial testbeds, and strategic business mentoring to ensure scalability and market adoption.
Grant disbursement follows a structured approach: an initial pre-financing payment (up to 50%), an intermediate installment (35%) upon milestone completion, and a final payment (15%) upon project validation. Beneficiaries must adhere to GDPR, ethical AI guidelines, and Horizon Europe regulations, particularly when handling sensitive manufacturing data or deploying AI-powered automation systems.
